Frodebu Nyakuri: Not yet united with Sahwanya Frodebu

Keffa Nibizi, chairman of Frodebu Nyakuri party has said those who joined Sahwanya Frodebu party on Saturday, 9 March, are members excluded from Frodebu Nyakuri and former members of the opposition platform in exile-CNARED.

Keffa Nibizi: “This is a political manipulation. There hasn’t been any attempt of reconciliation since 2015”

“None of our representatives or followers joined any other political party”, he said adding that all of its representatives from the national to the hill levels are working with Sahwanya Frodebu and will not betray the legacy of the hero of democracy, President Melchior Ndadaye.

Keffa Nibizi reacted to the reconciliation made between Sahwanya Frodebu and some former members of Frodebu Nyakuri. On 9 March, a group of “Sahwanya Frodebu Nyakuri party executives” representing seven provinces- Gitega, Karusi, Muyinga, Cankuzo, Ngozi, Mwaro and Kirundo signed a reconciliation agreement with Sahwanya Frodebu party in order to join this party.

Pierre Claver Nahimana, chairman of Sahwanya Frodebu said they expressed their firm commitment to reconciliation and work for the consolidation of the socio-political heritage of President Melchior Ndadaye.

As for Norbert Ndihokubwayo, former chairman of Sahwanya Frodebu Nyakuri in Gitega province and representative of this group, this is an important step and the others will join the party very soon.
Keffa Nibizi, however, has said there is no will to make reconciliation with the other party. “There hasn’t been any attempt of reconciliation since 2015”, he said adding that Frodebu Nyakuri will appeal to the justice if anyone dares to use the party’s signs and emblems for its individual interests.

Frodebu Nyakuri party also known as “Sahwanya Frodebu Nyakuri Iragi rya Ndadaye” was established in June 2008 as a breakaway from the Front for Democracy in Burundi-Sahwanya Frodebu.
