COVID-19: Burundi records 11 new cases

In a statement issued on June 10, the Ministry of Public Heath reported 11 new cases of COVID-19 which raises the total positive cases to 94. The Rapid Response Team established by the Ministry of Public Health has conducted the screening of 85 people including 37 actives cases under medical control, six suspected cases from Kira and Bumerec hospitals in Bujumbura city and 42 persons who were in contact with infected people from 8 to10 June.

Active COVID-19 cases are under medical treatment

“Among the six suspected cases alerted by some hospitals, four turn out positive for COVID-19 while out of 42 contacted people seven were tested positive,” reads the statement.

The Ministry of Public Health also reported 16 former patients who have been discharged from hospital. “We continue to identify other people who have been infected”, continues the communiqué. The Ministry of Public Health then exhorts Burundians to continue to abide by the preventive measures to curb the spread of COVID-19.

Up to 11 June, Burundi has already 94 positive cases out of 1106 total tests, 32 active cases, 61 recoveries and one death.
