On its Twitter page, the BBC announced that “it closes its office in Burundi after “the failure of negotiations with the Burundian authorities”.

This decision comes after the Burundi Media Regulator-CNC banned this medium from broadcasting on the Burundian territory.

The CNC also prohibited anyone staying on the Burundi territory from providing information to this international radio station. The BBC was accused of broadcasting “slanderous’ and ‘damning’ information.
