“Nurses and medical officials are well prepared to fight against that cholera disease”, says Jean Bosco Girukwishaka, Spokesperson for the Ministry of Public Health. He says the heavy rain that falls these days would be the main cause.

Mr. Girukwishaka says different measures have been taken. “Local residents are sensitized to hygienic measures and the spraying into households and gutters has been operated”, he says

On 28 December 2018, the Minister of Public Health declared cholera as an epidemic disease in Rumonge province. From 21 December 2018 to 15 January, 142 cases have been identified, but one person died. The spokesperson for the Ministry says there isn’t any new case since 15 January.
