Damaged doors of CNL party office in Gatete area

Jacques Ntunzwenimana, local chief of Gatete area in Rumonge city says unknown people have tried to burn the party office using car wheels and fuel. “Two doors were damaged in the night of 30 July,” he says.

Rumonge governor says it is regrettable to realize that troublemakers have tried to disturb security a day after he has held a meeting with security forces, administrative officials and leaders of political parties. “There is a need to stop these kinds of acts and move towards the 2020 electoral period,” he says adding that it is important that local residents remain united despite what is happening these days.

Leaders of political parties in Rumonge province say some local members of political parties in different areas glare at each other accusingly. “Civil society organizations and religious leaders should intervene and sensitize people to the importance of avoiding political intolerance especially in the period leading to the 2020 elections,” says Erasme Munke, CNL leader in Rumonge province.
Over the past two weeks, three CNL party offices were damaged respectively in Kizuka, Minago and Murenge areas of Rumonge province.
