Four killed in armed attack in north of Bujumbura

At least four people have been killed in an attack led by unidentified armed people in the night of May 28, police spokesman says.
They attacked Nestor Ntakarutimana’s home located in Kanga neighborhood of Kinama zone in the north of Bujumbura city.

“Before breaking into Ntakarutimana’s house, the criminals shot a shopkeeper from the neighborhood and two members of the joint security committee in charge of ensuring security in this area. These three victims died on the spot, “says a resident of Kinama adding that one of the criminals was also shot dead.

Local sources say criminals have stolen money in various households in this locality.

Moise Nkurunziza, deputy spokesman for the Ministry of Public Security says the attack was carried out by armed thieves adding that the police could not identify them. “The police intervened while the gunmen had already run away” says Nkurunziza.

He calls on members of the joint security committee to become very vigilant and inform the security forces as soon as they see any suspected criminals.
