Evariste Ndayishimiye calls on Burundian refugees to return home

“We have just honored ourselves by showing Burundians and the world that we no longer need lessons of democracy. It is rather our turn to teach others, “said Major-General Evariste Ndayishimiye, candidate of the ruling CNDD-FDD, in a message issued after the electoral commission announced his victory in the presidential election held on 20 May.

Ndayishimiye said that all Burundians who love democracy may enjoy his victory affirming as promised during the electoral campaign, that he will serve all Burundians without any distinction.

To support the victory of his party, Evariste Ndayishimiye calls on all Burundians to preserve peace and security. “No one should bother their neighbors on the pretext that they have voted for this or that other party,” he said.

In his speech, Mr. Ndayishimiye also called on Burundians living in exile to return home. “Burundi is our mother country. They have to come back to build it, “said Ndayishimiye.
