CNDD-FDD party boss calls on Burundians to choose good leaders

“When they started the fight against the existing regime of that time, many Burundians did not support them. But now, they are enjoying peace that resulted from their efforts,” said Evariste Ndayishimiye, Secretary General of the ruling party CNDD-FDD at the official launch of the week dedicated to the valiant warriors of the former CNDD-FDD rebel movement on November 13.

The ceremonies took place in Bubanza province in the west of Burundi.
This week coincides with the signing of the ceasefire agreement between Burundi government and the former CNDD-FDD rebel movement on November 16, 2003.

The boss of the CNDD-FDD ruling party called on Burundians to choose good leaders in the upcoming elections scheduled in six months. “Burundians who will participate in the upcoming elections must know that they must choose good leaders who will not sow hatred between people as did the old regimes. We want leaders who fight for the well-being of the people, “he insisted.

He recalled that CNDD-FDD movement fought to overthrow the dictatorial regime that ruled Burundi in order to establish a democratic government. He, however, mentioned that some CNDD-FDD combatants that perished were killed by their comrade-in arms. “That is the reason why we urge CNDD-FDD members not to elect leaders who do not like the population because these traitors who killed their fellow soldiers were not engaged in fighting for the country, “said Ndayishimiye
