All projects aimed at curbing COVID- 19 should be supported, says independent candidate

Francis Rohero, an Independent candidate for the presidential election set on May 20 says COVID-19 shouldn’t be taken lightly as it is fatal and has the potential to cause repercussions on the already faltering economy.

Francis Rohero: “COVID-19 wouldn’t politically divide Burundians. It would rather bring them together in the fight against it”.

“We are aware that total containment is something that Burundi cannot afford but there should be a rigorous speech about it” said Rohero while presenting his electoral campaign team at a press conference.

He says all initiatives and projects aimed at curbing the damage of covid-19 must be encouraged and supported by the government and its technical and financial partners.
“COVID-19 wouldn’t politically divide Burundians. It would rather bring them together in the fight against it,” he says.

Francis Rohero also says it is good news that this virus hasn’t yet caused serious damages.
The Ministry of Public Health has already confirmed five COVID-19 cases in Burundi including one death that occurred on April 12. In an attempt to curb the spread of the virus throughout the country, the Burundian government already announced the suspension of flights, screening and quarantining of travelers coming in the country.
