Week of flavor and taste at Burundi French Institute (IFB)

From 23 to 27, the IFB organize the second edition of week of flavor and taste to all Burundians all foreigners living in Burundi.-Yves Didier Irakoze

“Value the local products of foods is the main objective of the second edition of week of flavor and taste”, Hélène Foulard, Assistant Director of IFB says. She adds that the thematic of the second edition of this year was Fruits and vegetables to be known, be discovered for those who don’t know the products or who don’t know the flavor of the local products and to rediscover the local products for those who already know. Hélène goes on saying that activities are on the agenda. For instance, there will be workshops for children to make them taste local fruits and vegetables, workshops of cooking daily dishes at “Jardin Gourmand” Tuesday 23 September at 5:30 pm and Saturday 27 at 5:30.

Workshops on bakery also are organized at “Café Gourmand” Wednesday September 24 for children and on Tuesday at 4pm and Thursday 25 at 4pm for adults. Also some restaurants propose different menus as well as visits at “Usine de thé de Teza” at Muramvya and at “BUCAFE” to discover the process of a coffee since the sorting till in the cup of coffee.
Hélène mentions that this idea brings to Burundians to know that they have the big food heritage and value the local products.
She says that this week will be organized each year in order to value local products and that she invites many restaurants to join the IFB in order to make discovering and exchange the way of cooking and this will make the country also being discovered.
