The swearing-in ceremony of Senator Célestin Ndayizeye as the new Minister of Water, Environment and Urban Planning has taken place in the Burundi National Assembly this Thursday 24 January 2017.

Senator Ndayizeye was appointed by a presidential decree No. 100 of 23 January 2017.

He replaces the late Emmanuel Niyonkuru, killed in the night of 31 December 2016 to 1 January 2017 in Bujumbura, the Burundian capital. Like his predecessor, Ndayizeye is a member of Burundi’s ruling party CNDD-FDD. He was elected as Senator in the constituency of Muramvya, central province of Burundi.
