Very recently, the Burundi Beach Volley Ball Federation has celebrated its 20th anniversary since its creation on 18th October 1992. On this occasion, an International Tournament of EAC member states’ teams has been organized during two days (23rd and 24th February 2013).

That friendly tournament has been an opportunity to prepare Burundian Youth psychologically and physically as they will represent Burundi in Sudan International Beach Volley Ball Games which will take place in the following days.

"It’s a great pleasure because Burundi is proud and honored to host these games. Very importantly, Burundi got the 1st place in Africa during the competition held in Togo in 2012. Burundi also won the first place in ZONE IV composed of Central and Western African Countries. It is also a big pride for children who have started this game and who are adults now celebrating their 20th anniversary playing", says Louis Rwakiranya the Burundi Volley Ball Chairman.

He goes on saying that Burundi has invited other EAC member states to discover some of the beautiful beaches in Africa."Both Chairmen of Volley Ball Federations of Kenya and Uganda enjoy the nice and attractive beaches we have in Burundi. So, this is a big step that the country is making and it should be proud of that", he points out.

Mr. Louis Rwakiranya has reminded that Burundi has ensured all about the stay and transport inside the country. He has taken this opportunity to thank all people and institutions that have assisted for the success of the Tournament, especially Didier the Boss of Bora Bora Beach, the Ministry of Youth, Sports and Culture; the Ministry of Commerce, Industry, Posts and Tourism and the Aquavie Factory.
However, he deplores that other institutions are not involved in supporting these kinds of games. «It’s ashamed to see that in this Bora Bora Beach, there are neither bank banners nor those of other private commercial institutions. Then, I call upon any person, private or public institution to promote those games in the country because they are important."

Satisfaction feelings

Both Burundian team and other EAC teams have been satisfied to participate in that sport meeting : "This kind of competition helps us improve and learn new techniques from other EAC member state teams. We get experience from them. And we create good relationships and friendships among us", states Olivier. N. a Muzinga team Volley ball player.

Edna from Kenya Volley Ball Team is also happy. «I do appreciate Burundi for its beauty and Burundians for their warm hospitality. » She has indicated and expressed again her happiness that her country Kenya has won the Tournament.
The competition has ended up with delivering several cups and medals to winners accordingly.
