Out of 96.19 % of voters, 73.24% voted for the constitutional amendment while 19.37% voted against it. He also says the errors recorded in the referendum could not alter the provisional results. \u201cThe Court hasn\u2019t noticed any major irregularity in the referendum and the complaints lodged by the opposition coalition \u201cAmizero y\u2019Abarundi\u201d are unfounded,\u201d he says.<\/p>\n<p>Evariste Ndayishimiye, Secretary General of ruling party-CNDD-FDD says the Constitutional Court comes to strengthen what Burundians have already achieved through the poll. \u201cThe Constitutional amendment is a choice of Burundians and the 17 May Constitution will guide all Burundians\u201d, he says before adding that all people must accept the results.<\/p>\n<p>Pierre C\u00e9lestin Ndikumana, Chairman of the parliamentary group of the opposition coalition \u201cAmizero y\u2019Abarundi\u201d says the coalition hasn\u2019t yet received the notification of their complaint against the provisional results. \u201cThe Constitutional Court has ignored our claims and proceeded with the announcement of the final results of the referendum,\u201d he says.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Charles Ndagijinama, President of the Constitutional Court has declared the 17 May Constitutional referendum was held in accordance with the law. \u201cThe 17 May Constitution is approved at 73.24%,\u201d he says.
