Considering the situation that prevailed before the referendum and on the polling day as well as that after the referendum, what we are observing does not reassure,\u201d he says.<\/p>\n<p>Ndikumana says there are several arrests, intimidations and their political supervisors are often persecuted. He says more than 60 \u201cAmizero y\u2019Abarundi\u201d followers have been arrested after the referendum among them 75% were the supervisors. \u201cThere are witnesses. If there is a hunt for witnesses, this means something wrong is going on\u201d, he says. He, however, says the followers of the coalition are optimistic about the evidence presented to the court. \u201cWe will wait for the decision that the court will make\u201d, he says.<\/p>\n<p>On 21 May, the Independent National Electoral Commission published the provisional results of the constitutional referendum. The vote for the constitutional amendment won with 73. 26 % against 19. 34%. Out of 4,755, 216 registered voters throughout the country, 4,576 296 voted in the referendum i.e. 96.24% of the participation rate.
