The last two categories of voters are from the peace keeping missions outside the country.<\/p>\n<p>He says the results are satisfactory thanks to the sensitization campaign conducted by the government, some civil society organizations, leaders of political parties and religious groups.<\/p>\n<p>In 2015, the National Independent Electoral Commission had registered 3,840,920 voters out the expected 4,200,000. \u201cIt was due to the political and security situation that was prevailing in the country at that time,\u201d he says.<\/p>\n<p>Ndayicariye appeals to the Burundians who registered to keep well the registration paper that they were given in order to have access to the voter\u2019s card and be able to locate their identification details on the electoral rolls for the upcoming elections.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Pierre Claver Ndayicariye, Chairman of the National Independent Electoral Commission, says 5,008,742 people including 2,382,388 men and 2,618,354 women have registered for the Constitutional amendment scheduled for May 2018 and 2020 elections. \u201cIt\u2019s a great record in ten days.
