Local sources reported a grenade explosion in a bar known as \u201cChoice Ziko Bar-belonging to a certain Patrick\u201d located on 11th avenue in Twinyoni locality of Kamenge neighborhood in the north of Bujumbura, the commercial capital of Burundi, in the night of May 10. \u201cIt was around 7 p.m. when we heard a grenade explosion that injured a dozen of people,\u201d says an eyewitness of the crime.<\/p>\n

He says the grenade was thrown by unknown people. \u201cPolice officers and agents of the humanitarian association-Doctors Without Borders, quickly rushed to the scene to give first aid to the injured few minutes after the explosion,\u201d he says. He also says they ignore the motives of the attack as some people would be killed and others injured. In the morning of May 11, neighbors of the crime scene were performing their daily activities.<\/p>\n

Pierre Nkurikiye, Spokesperson for the Ministry of Public Security told Radio Isanganiro journalists that the attack was perpetrated by unknown people. \u201cThe grenade was thrown around 7:15 p.m. and injured twelve people\u201d, he says adding that one person has been arrested for investigation.
