In a telephone press briefing on COVID-19 in Africa and the USA response this May 6, Ambassador Tibor P. Nagy, Assistant Secretary in charge of African Affairs\u2019 Bureau has said the USA expects to give more than $ 1 million in migration and refugee humanitarian assistance which will help protect the health of vulnerable Burundians.<\/p>\n

The USA to provide over $ 245 million to African countries to curb the spread of COVID-19<\/p><\/div>\n

He has said these funds will help international organizations and NGO partners to address challenges posed by the pandemic among IDP and in hosting communities as well as migrants and other vulnerable people in both global and local humanitarian responses.<\/p>\n

Ambassador Nagy also said the USA has invested more than $997 million in total assistance for Burundi including more than $ 254 million in health assistance over the past 20 years.
\nThe USA will provide more than $ 245 million to African countries to curb the spread of COVID-19 infection.<\/p>\n

In the region, the DRC will receive $ 26 million; Kenya will get $4.5 million while Rwanda will have $ 2.2 million. Tanzania and Uganda will receive $1.4 million and $3.6 million respectively.<\/p>\n
