Jean-Marie Vianney Ngendakumana, Radio Isanganiro journalist and his driver Sa\u00efd Rukundaneza have been mistreated by young people from Kanyosha commune in Bujumbura province this April 9. They were investigating on an attack perpetrated in Kiyenzi locality in Kanyosha commune.<\/p>\n

\"\"Local residents told Radio Isanganiro journalists that it is deplorable to see these journalists being mistreated and the car being deflated. They even said the perpetrators aimed to eliminate the journalists.<\/p>\n

According to these eyewitnesses, the perpetrators are young people affiliated to the ruling party. \u201cThe perpetrators must be brought to justice as the journalist was doing his job of informing people\u201d, said one of the local residents.<\/p>\n

Sylv\u00e8re Ntakarutimana, Managing Director of Radio Isanganiro says the reporters were about to investigate on an attack on one of the houses in the locality when young people mistreated them and deflated their car\u2019s wheels. \u201cWe will bring this case to court,\u201d he says adding that some of the perpetrators are already identified. He, however, says this mistreatment wasn\u2019t related to politics. \u201cThese are simply wrongdoers. They should be punished to show others that Burundi is a country characterized by the rule of law,\u201d he says.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
