{"id":13903,"date":"2019-09-20T18:30:18","date_gmt":"2019-09-20T18:30:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.iwacu-burundi.org\/englishnews\/?p=13903"},"modified":"2019-09-20T18:30:35","modified_gmt":"2019-09-20T18:30:35","slug":"world-bank-gives-30-million-to-fund-burundi-nkuriza-project","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.iwacu-burundi.org\/englishnews\/world-bank-gives-30-million-to-fund-burundi-nkuriza-project\/","title":{"rendered":"World Bank gives $30 million to fund Burundi Nkuriza project"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>While signing a funding agreement with the Ministry of Finances, Budget and Economic Development this September 19th, the Operation Director of World Bank for Burundi has said $30 million will fund the project \u201cChildhood and demographic control\u201d called Nkuriza in Burundi.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_13865\" style=\"width: 460px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><img aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-13865\" decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-image-13865\" src=\"https:\/\/www.iwacu-burundi.org\/englishnews\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/BANQUE-MONDIALE.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"450\" height=\"259\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.iwacu-burundi.org\/englishnews\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/BANQUE-MONDIALE.jpg 800w, https:\/\/www.iwacu-burundi.org\/englishnews\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/BANQUE-MONDIALE-300x173.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.iwacu-burundi.org\/englishnews\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/BANQUE-MONDIALE-768x442.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.iwacu-burundi.org\/englishnews\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/BANQUE-MONDIALE-600x345.jpg 600w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 450px) 100vw, 450px\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-13865\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Jean-Christophe Carret (left) and Domitien Ndihokubwayo (right) exchange documents after signing a funding agreement.<\/p><\/div>\n<p>\u201cThis fund expresses the will of the World Bank to support the government of Burundi in the social sector,\u201d says Jean-Christophe Carret, World Bank Operation Director for Burundi.<\/p>\n<p>He says the project aims at helping in the nutrition of women at the childbearing age, children under five mainly those aged from zero to two. \u201cIt will also fund the family planning program and the agricultural sector,\u201d he adds.<\/p>\n<p>The Operation Director says the partnership between Burundi and the World Bank will continue until 2023. \u201cIt seeks to improve the human capital,\u201d he adds.<\/p>\n<p>Domitien Ndihokubwayo, Burundi Minister of Finances thanks the World Bank for the good partnership. \u201cThe World Bank is always in touch with the government of Burundi by funding many projects in the country,\u201d he says.<\/p>\n<p>He calls on the World Bank to keep supporting the government of Burundi. \u201cThere are still many projects to implement,\u201d he says adding that the government will manage the funds so they help to achieve sustainable development in the country.<\/p>\n<p>The project will be implemented in six provinces of the country, i.e. Makamba, Muyinga, Kirundo, Bubanza, Cibitoke and Cankuzo.<\/p>\n<p>450 thousand women at the childbearing age and over 380 thousand children under five years will benefit from the project.
