{"id":13422,"date":"2019-08-09T18:30:35","date_gmt":"2019-08-09T18:30:35","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.iwacu-burundi.org\/englishnews\/?p=13422"},"modified":"2019-08-12T06:33:46","modified_gmt":"2019-08-12T06:33:46","slug":"jica-to-undertake-several-projects-in-burundi","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.iwacu-burundi.org\/englishnews\/jica-to-undertake-several-projects-in-burundi\/","title":{"rendered":"JICA to undertake several projects in Burundi"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>At the reopening ceremonies held on August 9th, The Japanese Agency for International Cooperation-JICA has said it will carry out various projects to foster development in Burundi.<\/strong><\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_13414\" style=\"width: 608px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><img aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-13414\" decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\" wp-image-13414\" src=\"https:\/\/www.iwacu-burundi.org\/englishnews\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/Shin.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"598\" height=\"344\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.iwacu-burundi.org\/englishnews\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/Shin.jpg 800w, https:\/\/www.iwacu-burundi.org\/englishnews\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/Shin-300x173.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.iwacu-burundi.org\/englishnews\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/Shin-768x442.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.iwacu-burundi.org\/englishnews\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/Shin-600x345.jpg 600w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 598px) 100vw, 598px\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-13414\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Maruo Shin: \u201cThe rehabilitation activities of Bujumbura port will start soon\u201d<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Maruo Shin, Chief Representative of JICA Rwanda office says three projects among others will be the priority for Burundi.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn the sector of transport infrastructure, we will start with the rehabilitation of Bujumbura port,\u201d he says adding that activities are expected to begin by November 2019.<br \/>\nMr. Shin says JICA plans to implement the technical cooperation to develop the rice sector. \u201cThe project will be conducted in Imbo region in collaboration with the Imbo regional society for development-SRDI,\u201d he adds.<\/p>\n<p>He also says JICA will contribute to the Burundian technical project for the mother-child health care.<br \/>\nAccording to Mr. Shin, JICA would like to collaborate with the government of Burundi and the international community to implement the 2018-2027 Burundian national development plan.<br \/>\n\u201cBurundi Government appreciates the efficiency of the Japanese and Burundian experts in the implementation of various projects,\u201d says Isidore Ntirampeba, Permanent Secretary to the Burundian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.<\/p>\n<p>Some of the projects have been completed or are in the process of being completed, while others will start soon, he adds.<\/p>\n<p>Mr. Ntirampeba says the government of Burundi recognizes the work of the Japanese government in promoting solidarity, mutuality, experience exchange, capacity building and socio-economic development in Burundi.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe government of Burundi calls on Japanese businessmen and women to come and invest in Burundi so as to contribute to the development of the country,\u201d he also says.<br \/>\nJICA suspended the Japanese staff station in Burundi due to insecurity reasons in 2015.
