{"id":11114,"date":"2018-12-26T00:07:04","date_gmt":"2018-12-26T00:07:04","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.iwacu-burundi.org\/englishnews\/?p=11114"},"modified":"2018-12-26T00:07:04","modified_gmt":"2018-12-26T00:07:04","slug":"cecab-concerned-over-situation-prevailing-in-burundi","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.iwacu-burundi.org\/englishnews\/cecab-concerned-over-situation-prevailing-in-burundi\/","title":{"rendered":"CECAB concerned over situation prevailing in Burundi"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>On the eve of the celebration of Christmas Day on 25 December, the Conference of Catholic Bishops of Burundi (CECAB) says there are some facts indicating that the situation in the country needs to be improved.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_8421\" style=\"width: 360px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><img aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-8421\" decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-image-8421 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/www.iwacu-burundi.org\/englishnews\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/04\/Mgr-Joachim-Ntahondereye.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"350\" height=\"233\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.iwacu-burundi.org\/englishnews\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/04\/Mgr-Joachim-Ntahondereye.jpg 350w, https:\/\/www.iwacu-burundi.org\/englishnews\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/04\/Mgr-Joachim-Ntahondereye-300x200.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 350px) 100vw, 350px\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-8421\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Bishop Joachim Ntahondereye: \u201cThe situation doesn\u2019t ensure Burundians notably those who are still living in exile.\u201d<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Bishop Joachim Ntahondereye, Chairman of the Conference of Catholic Bishops of Burundi says the step already achieved in different communities over the past years has helped Burundians live in harmony while the signing of the Arusha Agreement and the establishment of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission have brought hope to Burundians. \u201cThese initiatives have allowed thousands of Burundians to return home from exile,\u201d he says.<\/p>\n<p>He, however, says Burundians don\u2019t now participate massively in different activities including mass celebrations and biblical teachings.<\/p>\n<p>Bishop Ntahondereye also says political parties are not willing to sit together and find solutions to the current problems in the country. \u201cThe situation doesn\u2019t ensure Burundians notably those who are still living in exile,\u201d he said adding that even those living in the country fear to express themselves on the current situation.
