No current situation could prevent Burundian institutions from functioning normally,&#8221; stated Pascal Nyabenda, Speaker of the National Assembly.<br \/>\nAccording to him, Burundi justice is just investigating a case it already opened. &#8220;The mission of CVR is not preventing courts from closing pending trials,&#8221; he explains.<\/p>\n<p>After Burundi Attorney General launched international arrest warrants against 17 Burundians including Ex-President Pierre Buyoya on November 30, the chairman of the African Union Commission asked the Government of Burundi to avoid taking actions that might complicate the resolution of the conflict.<br \/>\nIn a statement, Moussa Faki Mahamat urged the Burundian authorities to refrain from taking measures, including &#8220;judicial&#8221; measures, likely to complicate the search for a solution to the crisis.<\/p>\n<p>The National Assembly supports and encourages Burundi justice to continue to conduct thorough investigations in order to definitively eradicate impunity in the country.
