However, Burundian politicians diverge on the AU position. <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The AU Peace and Security Council urged all stakeholders in Burundi crisis to attend the 5th upcoming inclusive dialogue session scheduled from 18 to 24 October in Arusha, Tanzania. The AU Peace and Security Council confirmed its full support to the mediation and facilitation in the inter-Burundian dialogue.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_10058\" style=\"width: 483px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><img aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-10058\" decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\" wp-image-10058\" src=\"http:\/\/www.iwacu-burundi.org\/englishnews\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/leonce-1-300x173.jpg\" alt=\"L\u00e9once Ngendakumana: \u201cThe AU has failed to find solutions to Burundi crisis.\u201d \" width=\"473\" height=\"273\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.iwacu-burundi.org\/englishnews\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/leonce-1-300x173.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.iwacu-burundi.org\/englishnews\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/leonce-1-768x442.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.iwacu-burundi.org\/englishnews\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/leonce-1-600x345.jpg 600w, https:\/\/www.iwacu-burundi.org\/englishnews\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/leonce-1.jpg 800w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 473px) 100vw, 473px\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-10058\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">L\u00e9once Ngendakumana: \u201cThe AU has failed to find solutions to Burundi crisis.\u201d<\/p><\/div>\n<p>L\u00e9once Ngendakumana, Deputy Chairman of FRODEBU party says the AU position on Burundi crisis is known. \u201cIf the AU had really wanted to support the inter-Burundian dialogue, we would have already reached an agreement a long time ago,\u201d he says adding that the African Union seeks to destabilize Burundians while they are preparing for the 5th dialogue session.<\/p>\n<p>Ngendakumana doesn\u2019t believe if the schedule of the fifth dialogue session to be held from 18 to 24 October will finally be met. \u201cSince we attended the 4th dialogue session, a new schedule of the fifth dialogue session has often been announced but was never met,\u201d he says adding that AU has failed to help find solution to the crisis in Burundi.<\/p>\n<p>Concerning the lifting of sanctions that the EU imposed on Burundi in March 2016, Mr. Ngendakumana says the AU would rather suggest Burundi government to correct some mistakes and resume cooperation with the EU. \u201cThe EU signed an agreement with Burundi government but the latter didn\u2019t honor it,\u201d says Ngendakumana.<\/p>\n<p>The AU Peace and Security Council exhorted the EU to lift sanctions for the improvement of the socio-economic situation in Burundi.<\/p>\n<p>As for Abel Gashatsi, chairman of UPRONA party, he says the AU Peace and Security commission knows what happened in Burundi. \u201cThe EU sanctions don\u2019t help Burundi in anything,\u201d he says. Gashatsi says he appreciates the support of the AU for the upcoming dialogue session as UPRONA party has already been invited to attend it.<\/p>\n<p>Concerning the reduction of the AU observers in Burundi, L\u00e9once Ngendakumana says they did nothing: \u201cThey should rather be removed from Burundi. The UN warned about the deterioration of the human rights many times but they didn\u2019t report anything\u201d.
