The Burundian political opponent Agathon Rwasa held a meeting this September 12 with about his 500 supporters from different provinces of Burundi. They decided to create a new political party called National Liberty Front\u2013 (FNL) Amizero y’Abarundi.<\/p>\n

“We have met with our members to create a new political party FNL \u2013Amizero y’Abarundi that we plan to register at the Ministry of the Interior in order to work legally,” Agathon Rwasa told journalist, at the end of the meeting. He said the National Liberty Front – [FNL] Amizero y’Abarundi and National Liberation Forces [FNL] are not the same although their acronyms are similar.<\/p>\n

Rwasa explains that he decided to create a political party to comply with the Burundian law that does not allow that the coalitions of the independents operate officially. So, we need to create political parties to work legally, “says Rwasa.<\/p>\n

Formerly chairman of the National Liberation Force [FNL], Agathon Rwasa is the main political opponent of the government of Burundi. He is also the first deputy speaker of the National Assembly. He participated in the 2015 elections as a political actor.
