The avenues of “Mission & Amitié”: difficult roads to cross

These roads are famous for their business activities. People may say that if someone look for something and want shopping, he/she may go to these avenues. Shops, forex bureaux and bank offices… are found there. Everybody feels rushed in business even if it is a little one.-Diane Uwimana

In sum, those avenues are very important places to run business. However, passing through them, people should pay much attention on where they have to put their feet. Without thinking how on earth it is difficult to cross those roads by cars, there is a heavy traffic jam! There are holes everywhere. People should await much more time as the avenues are full of buses and cars. If the rain falls, it is very hard to go from one side to another. There is a lot of stagnant water in different areas and drivers are conducting carelessly.

People say that those avenues have been forgotten by the government if we look into their bad states. The Department of Road Work activities in the Ministry of Infrastructure, Housing and Equipment, Léandre Ruberintwari notes that the Ministry does not care for roads and avenues in residential areas but only national, provincial and communal roads. “These avenues are within the town and are under the responsibility of Bujumbura City Council,” says Ruberintwari.
I have tried to contact the Bujumbura City Council for more information but in vain.
