This Monday, 19 September, Rotary Club Bujumbura-Ingoma granted assistance of 3480 copybooks and 550 pens to 350 pupils of the association “Albinos sans Frontières”. “Each one will receive ten copybooks”, said Dieudonné Gahungu, the chairman of Rotary Club Bujumbura-Ingoma.

According to him, this activity aims at supporting the community concretely given that the month of September is dedicated to literacy. “It is our duty to be on the community services by protecting and encouraging Albino people as they are discriminated in different localities,” he said.

Rotary Club Bujumbura-Ingoma has assisted “Albinos Sans Frontières” for five years. Gahungu went on to say that they expect to grant them beauty lotions for their skins’ diseases. “We are engaged in fighting against their discrimination and wish to see them living like other children”, he underlined.

Serges Daouda, a Gabonese and governor of district 9.150 appreciated the initiative of Rotary Club Bujumbura-Ingoma for their long-standing partnership with this albinos’ association. “I govern ten countries of Central Africa Rotary International, but it is the first time I see such a well-organized association for 26 years I have just spent in that Rotary Club. I will plead for them to extend this project so that they should have other partners with the main objective of becoming more prosperous in their different activities”, he wished.

Jean Martin Bizimana, the secretary general of the “Albinos sans Frontières” association appreciated the assistance and noted that they will always be more credible. “Ten of us have completed secondary school and are ready to enter the University. Keep trusting us, our mission won’t end in failure”, he said.

Ingoma Rotary Club Bujumbura-Ingoma intervenes not only in education but also in health domains precisely in the fight against polio. “We have another target group. We assist about 300 deaf and dumb children from Gitega central province”, he noted.
