Bururi High Court judge sentenced to one month in prison

Claver Ndikumasabo, Bururi High Court judge in the south of Burundi, has been sentenced to one month in prison and fined BIF 100,000 in a trial held on August 23, 2018 by Bururi Court of Appeal.

He is accused of having insulted Zabron Nyandwi, the director of Bururi Medical School and representative of members of the ruling CNDD-FDD youth wing in the same province.

A local source says Ndikumasabo quarreled with Nyandwi in a bar in the night of August12. He was arrested the next day and put in Bururi prison. He was released yesterday afternoon.
